CITB and SANFL launch “Trade Up” campaign to promote construction careers
The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has partnered with the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) to launch the “Trade Up” campaign, aiming to raise awareness of construction career pathways among regional youth. The initiative is designed to inspire the next generation of South Australian tradies, addressing skills shortages and encouraging broader industry participation.
Interactive roadshows and hands-on experiences for regional teens
Throughout 2025, the campaign will feature interactive roadshow activations at key SANFL events, providing local teenagers with hands-on construction experiences and tailored career guidance. These activations are set to engage aspiring tradies directly, helping them discover the diverse opportunities available in the construction sector.
Cash prizes for career development and community support
As part of the “Built in the Regions” initiative, young participants can pitch for cash prizes—$2,500 to support their own career development and $3,000 for their local footy club. This dual incentive aims to motivate individuals and benefit regional communities by investing in both personal growth and grassroots sport.
Campaign focuses on diversity and breaking down stereotypes
CITB is emphasising the need to break down outdated stereotypes about construction work and to encourage participation from women, First Nations people, and other underrepresented groups. The campaign seeks to foster a more inclusive and dynamic workforce, reflecting the diversity of South Australia’s communities.
Building the future of South Australia’s construction industry
By connecting career development with sport and community, the “Trade Up” campaign represents a proactive approach to building a skilled, diverse, and resilient construction workforce for the future.
