With the Christmas countdown officially underway, hardware and home improvement stores nationwide are extending their trading hours to help Aussies complete their last-minute shopping lists.

Whether it’s snagging a DIY gift, upgrading your white goods, or grabbing essential tools, taking advantage of your favourite home stores’ extended hours will ensure you beat the dreaded Christmas Eve rush.

With everything from power tools to tech gifts and home essentials on offer, these stores make it easier to grab everything you need – and maybe even score a bargain or two – right before Christmas Day.

So get the last of your Christmas shopping done without the stress, thanks to Build-it’s go-to festive trading hours guide, featuring some of the best names in the business.

Bunnings Warehouse 

Bunnings stores nationwide are offering extended trading hours in the lead-up to Christmas, making it easier for DIY enthusiasts, tradies, and homeware lovers to pick up the perfect gift.

Open on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day but closed on Christmas Day, Bunnings is the perfect place to pick up a great variety of last-minute gifts, thanks to most stores offering extended trading.

“Trading hours over the Christmas period will vary store-by-store in the various states,” A Bunnings spokesperson told Build-it.

“As such, it is best for customers to jump onto the Bunnings website to check their local store’s trading hours.”

Many Bunnings will remain open until 10 pm on Thursday and Friday this week, with some also offering nighttime shopping on the coming weekend. 

Sydney Tools

For those looking to grab a last-minute power tool or trade accessory, Sydney Tools will remain open during standard hours throughout the festive season, with a few exceptions.

On Boxing Day, most stores will open from 7 am to 8 pm, while New Year’s Day hours are reduced to 10 am to 3 pm.

Mitre 10

If you’re looking to grab something from Mitre 10, you better schedule it in.

The homeware giant is sticking to its standard hours, with most stores open from 7 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday and reduced weekend hours.

Your local Mitre 10 store may not have any extended hours this Christmas but there are still plenty of festive bargains to be had.

Customers should check their local store’s opening hours online before heading out, as no extended trading has been announced.

Harvey Norman

Looking for last-minute electrical or tech gifts?

Harvey Norman stores mostly keep to standard hours, with many locations extending Friday trading until 7 pm this week.

Exact store times vary per location, so check their website for the exact hours of your nearest store.

The Good Guys

If you’re in the market for white goods or appliances, The Good Guys are stepping up their trading hours for Christmas. 

Most stores open at 9 am daily and stay open until 7 pm on weekends. 

The Good Guys have plenty of last-minute gift deals as well as offering same-day delivery via Uber.

In the week leading up to Christmas, many stores will extend hours further, remaining open until 8 pm or 9 pm.
