Australia is a land of breathtaking landscapes, stretching from coast to coast and every stunning spot in between. And what better way for weekend worksite warriors to take it all in than by hitting the open road on the back of a motorcycle?

With endless scenic routes to choose from, picking the best ride can be a bit daunting. But don’t worry—we’ve rounded up eight epic motorcycle journeys across the country that you definitely shouldn’t miss. So, strap on your helmet, rev up the Harley and let’s get rolling!

The Great Ocean Road, Victoria

If there’s one ride you’ve probably heard of, it’s the Great Ocean Road. But this 120km stretch from Torquay to Glenaire is famous for good reason, with its rugged coastline full of iconic sights like the Twelve Apostles standing providing a riding experience motorists can’t find anywhere else.

Sure, it can get a bit crowded with tourists, but if you time it right, the views are totally worth it. Plus, don’t skip the back roads—they’ll lead you to charming coastal towns that are just begging to be explored. Trust us, it’s called the Great Ocean Road for a reason!

Oxley Highway, New South Wales

No Aussie motorcycle ride list is complete without a nod to the legendary Oxley Highway. This road is a rider’s dream, especially the 165 km stretch from Wauchope to Walcha.

With its countless twists and turns, you might feel like you’re on a rollercoaster—but in the best possible way. And the scenery? Absolutely jaw-dropping, from mountain vistas to lush rainforests.

Just don’t forget to grab your very own ‘300 Bends’ t-shirt as a souvenir of this unforgettable adventure.

Mount Glorious, Queensland

Looking for a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of Brisbane? Mount Glorious is just the ticket. A short ride from the city, this route takes you through the rolling farmland of Samford Valley, then up into the eucalyptus-covered mountains.

The road is narrow and twisty, so it’s perfect for a leisurely pace that lets you soak in the stunning views. And if you’re up for a bit of a thrill, the ride back up from D’Aguilar National Park is sure to get your adrenaline pumping.

Adelaide Hills, South Australia

Kick off this 159 km loop in Golden Grove, and you’re in for a ride that lives up to the name. Ending in Tea Tree Gully, this journey through Adelaide Hills offers a bit of everything: long, straight stretches of countryside, twisty corners, and plenty of spots to stop for a coffee or a bite to eat.

With so many tempting cafes, wineries, and restaurants along the way, the hardest part might be staying focused on the road!

Strahan to Derwent Bridge, Tasmania

Tasmania is packed with incredible rides, but the route from Strahan to Derwent Bridge is a standout. Starting on the west coast in the charming town of Strahan, you’ll ride along the A10 through Queenstown and on to Derwent Bridge.

The highlight? The infamous ‘99 Bend Road’—and yes, it’s as challenging as it sounds! Over roughly 130km, this ride serves up some of the best scenery Tassie has to offer, making it a must-do for any motorcyclist.

The Putty Road, New South Wales

Ah, The Putty Road—a name that’s practically legendary among Aussie riders. Stretching 177km along Sydney’s western edge, this route is like a slice of motorcycling heaven.

With the Wollemi and Yengo national parks flanking either side, you’ll be surrounded by natural beauty the entire way. And if you’re a speed demon, the 16km ‘10 Mile’ stretch near Singleton is where you can really let loose.

Just be sure to enjoy the ride as much as the speed!

Kangaroo Valley Ride, New South Wales

This ride has it all: national parks, waterfalls, coastal roads, and lush suburban scenery. Starting on the Princess Highway in Kirrawee, you’ll cruise through the Royal National Park and past the stunning Macquarie Pass, where an 822m waterfall awaits.

Covering 116km of pure riding bliss, this route shows off some of the finest natural beauty Australia has to offer.

The Lions Road, Queensland

Roaring along The Lions Road (pun intended), you’ll quickly see why this area is called the Scenic Rim.

This 96km journey straddles the border between Queensland and New South Wales, offering jaw-dropping hinterland views that might make you question if it’s all a dream. But rest assured, it’s all very real, and this ride is one you won’t forget in a hurry.

So, whether you’re a local or just visiting, these motorcycle routes are sure to get your engine roaring and your spirit soaring. Ready to ride?
