For most Aussies, a trip to Bunnings usually means a trolley full of tools, some good bargains, and maybe a sausage sizzle if you’re there on the weekend.

But for tradies, there’s an even better deal on offer… a free breakfast!

It’s no secret that tradies love a good feed, and Bunnings ensures they don’t go hungry before a hard day on the tools.

The hardware giant regularly hosts free trade breakfasts at stores nationwide, serving up bacon and egg rolls, coffee, and even some highly sought-after Bunnings merch — all on the house.

The initiative is a tradie favourite, with those in the know considering it “the worst-kept secret” in the industry.

Gold Coast-based sparkie Dustin Parker told Build-it that the Bunnings breaky is about more than free grub, with product information, good yarns, and even some freebies also on the side.

“Trade breakfasts are a cracking way to get the day started. The only thing that tastes better than a bacon and egg roll is a free one,” he said.

“Some weeks, I’ll even walk away with some free merch or tester gear, which is even better.”

What’s on the menu:

Most Bunnings trade breakfasts include:

  • Bacon and egg rolls straight off the Barbie
  • Fresh coffee and juice to get you moving
  • Seasonal extras depending on the time of year and location
  • Bunnings and supplier merch like hats, clothing, drink bottles, or testers
  • A chance to chat with suppliers and local tradies

While many stores run the breakfasts once a week, some offer them fortnightly or even twice a week, depending on demand.

Bunnings also runs special-themed trade breakfasts, like events supporting mental health awareness and women in trades.

A Bunnings spokesperson said the initiative is about supporting tradies and PowerPass customers with an easy, no-fuss way to grab a bite before heading to site.

“The trade breakfasts are just one example of numerous offers and initiatives we have to look after our tradies,” they said.

“Typically, trade breakfasts run from opening for a couple of hours in the morning to support early morning tradies in store so they can drop in, grab a bite to eat, and get back on the road.”

“(They) give the Bunnings team an opportunity to show appreciation to local customers and build relationships.”

How to find your local trade breakfast:

So, how can you lock in a free Bunnings breaky?

All tradies and PowerPass members are welcome at the events, but the schedule varies by store.

  • Check in-store signage for upcoming dates
  • Ask the trade desk when the next trade breakfast is
  • Follow your local Bunnings on social media for updates on national events
