A select number of Aussie tradies are gearing up to turn heads this month when they arrive at the job site behind the wheel of Australia’s newest brand of Utes.

JAC Motors will put tyres to the tarmac for the first time this April with the launch of its new Jac T9, the manufacturer’s first-ever ute vehicle available down under.

The Chinese brand has boomed in popularity over the last year, selling more than half a million vehicles worldwide as it takes on the global auto market.

The success has come as JAC has slowly built up a loyal following since its launch into the vehicle space 17 years ago. It is now available in 132 countries and has seen a year-on-year sales rate spike of nearly 20 per cent.

While the name might not be synonymous with the Aussie ute scene just yet, that could soon change as the JAC brand looks set to turbocharge its way onto roads around the country thanks to its flagship workhorse, the T9 Ute.

Perfect for conquering both the job site and the campsite, JAC Motors Australia Deputy Managing Director Danny Lenartic says the Turbo Diesel JAC T9 Ute is designed to balance work and play and is rammed full of features for a workday or a weekend.

“The T9 is the perfect new ute for Aussies who want something they can drive to work through the week before loading up all their gear for an off-road adventure on the weekend,” he said.

“We’ve put this ute through its paces, making sure it can handle our harsh climate and rough conditions, and the feedback has been fantastic.”

Key features:

  • 2L four-cylinder Turbo diesel engine
  • fuel-efficiency 7.6L/100km
  • 3.5t braked towing capacity
  • 125 kW of power in 410Nm
  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • 1000 kg payload
  • Lane departure and lane keep assist
  • Blindspot detection
  • 10.4-inch touch screen entertainment system
  • Apple car play and Andriod connectivity

Chairman of JAC Motors Australia, Michael Jiang, says the T9 was made with both style and functionality in mind to The newest addition to become Australia’s new jack—or JAC—of all trades.

“Not only is this an exciting moment for JAC Motors, it’s an incredible step forward for the Australian automotive industry. We know that Aussies have a huge appetite for new vehicle options that deliver on both form and function, and we feel that JAC Motors is well placed to meet this demand,” he said.

Mr Lenartic says the T9 is set to be just the start of JAC’s renaissance on Aussie roads. The brand plans to invest further in Australia’s lifestyle and family vehicle categories.

“The diesel T9 is just the beginning of what we have in store, so Aussies should keep their eyes peeled for more news soon.”

The JAC T9 Ute top-spec model retails for $45,630, while the base model is set to sell for $42,662. Both models come standard with a seven-year unlimited-kilometre warranty.
